it's been years
since i've heard the term,
"short-timer"..
since my GI days.
back then
it was about
going home,
it was about get'n out.
it was about starting over
hope and new and soon.
but now
it's taken on
the meaning of
"the end".
words jump
the fence
sometimes.

I was a short timer the instant I was born. Miss you, man.
I never heard it either way, but i think i like the first way better.
I got short in Germany playing artilleryman for almost 3 years. We went to 2 digit midget (99 days)to 1 digit, to so short your whore can't find your dick. Then you throw your combat boots into the freedom tree. Fuck The Army. You're a good writer dude......
