the last time I was pregnant
I overdosed on black cohosh
and laxatives
because I heard you could make yourself miscarry
in the end, I just went ahead and had an abortion
even though i thought i had been in there so many times
over the past fifteen years,
I should get this one for free
but Malika reminded me
that we don't get anything for free
not a god damn thing
so I parted with my four hundred dollars
and hoped
those heels I wanted
at the mall
would still be there
in a month
